The tittle of Melissa Bowerman "Early Syntactic Developmeny" suggests the task of the children learning to talk. According to Chomsky's early writings empdasized that knowledge of language cannot be viewed simply as knowledge of a repertoire of sentences. Thus the child according to chomsky's view, has to discover from the finite corpus of utterances at various stages of development[early and late]are considerd to be the products of a rule system of his own discovery or invention rather than random combinations of words or repetitions of previously heard utterances. thus, rather than being regarded as a passive associator or imitator, the child is looked upon as an active participant in the learning process (Take this part out. You need to focus on the BOOK you're reviewing). It is obvious from the preface of the book that it presents a brief description of the way in which the language acquistion data from the Finnish children are analyzed and compared with material from children learning other languages. Thus, the book presents and explains data from a longitudinal investigation of the early syntactic development of two Finnish children and compare their speech at two stages of development mainly early and late with that of American,Samon, and Luo children. The table of contents reveals the major ideas which are related to children learning to talk.Especially chapter four and five title"early stage speech"and"late stage speech", (however) but the others chapters (are) related to the main point of the book but in genral way.
COMMENTS: Azza, you need to pay more attention to the grammatical structure of the sentence. For example, the large block in red above - in addition to being redundant - is full of ungrammatical structures. For example, the sentential adverb "according to X," should be immediately followed by a sentence (i.e., the subject of the sentence and not the verb). The part in blue: "are considered", who or what are considered? I will accept this part for now - after you take out the block in red. But you need to work on the comments for the final copy of the review.
